The last model of the Sten, this was more expensively produced, with the wooden butt and pistol grip. The front sight assembly is similar to that for the No.4 rifle and it will accept the same spike or knife bayonet. Used by paratroopers in the battle of Arnhem, the Mk 5 became the standard SMG of the British army until replaced by the Sterling in 1953.
