Simplified wartime version of earlier M38A. The demands of war production meant Beretta could not maintain their pre-war standards and the M1938/42 reflects the cut back with regard to discarding the barrel jacket and reducing length of stock. Despite these measure the 1938/42 was still an excellent weapon. Main specifications same as the model 1938, except 2 lb lighter and rate of fire 550 RPM. This example is of post-war manufacture and has arabic stampings suggesting export.
