based on a French design this weapon produced as a commercial venture by Vickers. Although unsuccessful in the selection trials which led to the adoption of the BREN, the VB was adopted by the Indian army as its standard LMG. A production line being established in Ishapore. A successful and reliable LMG which remains in use in India. Later Mk 2 and 3 version has a less bulky/no forestock and no barrel fins.
