The last of the famous Czech light machine guns the VZ 59 was based on the earlier vz 26 and 30 designs but was belt fed and used 7.62mm ammunition. This either took the form of the obsolete Soviet 1891 round, or versions of the weapon designated UK vz 59N were made to chamber the NATO 7.62 round. It is possible that the N suffix on the serial of this weapon reflects that ammunition type.
