Before becoming a Soviet Satellite the Czechs developed a domestic semi-automatic rifle, the Samonabijeci Puska VZ 52. Firing a 7.62 mm x 45 cartridge this rifle was not compatible with the Soviet equivalent so only the Czech army used the VZ 52. A well made but heavy rifle the VZ 52 had a detachable magazine holding 10 rounds and a permanently fixed bayonet.
