Subject: Richard Thomas - Webinar at Inland Waterways Association
Description: Title: Richard Thomas - Webinar at Inland Waterways Association; Topic: The Royal Gunpowder Mills; Presented by: Richard Thomas; Webinar host: Libby Bradshaw; Time: Mar 22, 2021 07:30 PM in London; Description: The former Royal Gunpowder Mills site at Waltham Abbey is rich in history, designated a Scheduled Monument, the highest protection that can be given to a historic site. There are 20 listed buildings at the site. In the Spring 2020 edition of Meridian Cuttings Richard wrote an excellent article about the Waterways of the Mills. As with so many important historical sites the future of the Mills is now uncertain due to lack of income during the Covid-19 pandemic. It would be a tragedy if this site had to close and hopefully we can campaign for funding to keep it going for many years to come. https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_0tqtTT6LQMu4G7fvgbv40Q https://www.waterways.org.uk/support/ways-to-get-involved/events/royal-gunpowder-mills YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FhSmH7SfDlsIt is a designated Scheduled Monument, the highest protection that can be given to a historic site.
