Biography:

1. William Williams (1) was employed in 1812 as a casual Bricklayers Labourer in the Engineers' Department, earning 2/8d per day for a six-day week (WO54/512 dated September 1812). 2. WO54/516 dated February 1816, confirmed he was first employed by the Board as a Labourer on the 14th December 1811 earning 2/8d per day in the Engineers' Department, and stated that he was a 60-year-old married man with 5 married children, living in Waltham Abbey.
