Biography:

1. George Wheatley was first employed by the Board on the 7th December 1812 as an occasional Labourer earning 2/8d per day in the Engineers' Department. He was a 60-year-old married man with 2 married and 2 unmarried children, living in Waltham Abbey. (WO54/516 dated February 1816).
