Biography:
1. John Smithe (also Smith) was employed to mark gunpowder barrels at 2/-d per day, and was allowed to watch in turn (Supply 5/227 dated the 23rd August 1808).
2. Supply 5/228 dated the 1st September 1810, recorded that a John Smith, Marker of Barrels, was paid 2/3d day and allowed to watch in turn for 1/6d night.
