Biography:

1. William Nottage worked as a Corning House Man earning 2/2d per day, and had been employed with the Ordnance for 1 year at the 30th January 1806 (Supply 5/224). 2. Supply 5/226 dated the 18th June 1807, confirmed that William was still working in the Corning House and earning the same amount as before, but in addition, stated that Corning House men were allowed to watch in turn, for which they received 1/-d. 3. According to the entry on Supply 5/227 dated the 23rd August 1808, Mr. Nottage was still employed as a Corning House Man but then earned 2/6d per day, and in addition to their pay, they were allowed to watch in turn, for which they receive a shilling. 4. Supply 5/228 dated the 1st September 1810, confirmed that he was still a Corning House Man who was paid 2/6d day, and allowed to watch in turn, then for 1/6d night. 5. List of Employees dated the 29th August 1812, stated that Mr. Nottage was still a Corning House Man but that he then earned 3/3d per day, in addition to which, he was allowed to watch in turn, for which he earned 1/6d. per night (Supply 5/229). 6. Nottage was still a Corning House Man on the 13th February 1814 with the same rate of pay, and allowed to watch turn, for which he received 1/6d per night (Supply 5/230).
