Biography:
1. Thomas Mitchell was a Labourer by trade set to work by Daniel Cornish in October 1787 at 9/-d per week, possibly renovating the Mills following their purchase by the Government from Mr. Walton (Winters' Centenary Memorial, p.28).
2. He was kept on and worked as a Bargeman in 1788, and promised continuity of work because he had previously worked for Mr Walton (Supply 5/212 dated the 27th November 1788).
3. According to page 55 of Winters' Centenary Memorial, Thomas Mitchell's barge carried 10 tons of coal. He died suddenly in December 1788.
