Biography:

1. John Merrit was appointed Foreman of Stoves and Magazines replacing John Braddock, according to an entry dated the 7th May 1825 in Winters' Centenary Memorial (p.92). However, Winters may have been in error, because the records show that John Brown was appointed as the Foreman of Stoves and Magazines on the 25th May 1825 (WO54/554).
