Initial identification: cast iron object (Ron Treadgold says:- steel plates, not cast iron, probably used for frag attack penetration tests. I recall an RDX proving test was to detonate a pellet cemented to a 1/4" steel plate (ca. 1940). A disc of metal was blown clear if ok. T
