Interior view of Washing House No.1 (B1dg.No.45) from the porch at the north side, showing sectors of roof collapsed at the centre on to the washing tanks which contained two portions of nitroglycerine. Burns was working on the platform behind the tanks at the time of the explosion; he remained on duty.
